Cerambyx cerdo – great capricorn beetle

It is one of the largest European coleopterans, with a body length of 35-55 mm. Its color is black with brown tones and the edges of the sheaths are red. The belly and the legs are covered with gray hairs. The larvae of this species grow in oak wood, as well as in other trees such as beech, elm, chestnut, ash trees.

Adults are crepuscular and nocturnal insects, most likely to be seen from May until August.
